gluciq.com only. The mobile app stores data on a different model, which the Privacy Policy describes.
The word “cookies” here means what European law means by it. That covers cookies and any other storage this website writes to your browser or device, local storage included.
Before you make a choice
When you first open gluciq.com, nothing loads from Google Analytics or from any advertising or marketing network. Google’s Consent Mode initializes with every optional category denied, analytics included. Where analytics is configured for the site, a compact, non-modal consent card appears; it does not block the page, so you can read and scroll while it is visible.
The Google Analytics script is not part of the page’s static code. The site injects it only after you grant analytics consent, so until then no request reaches googletagmanager.com.
If no Google Analytics measurement ID is configured for the site, no banner appears and no analytics runs at all.
What is strictly necessary
These items keep the site running. They remember your language and your consent choice. The site cannot work correctly without them, so we do not ask for consent. None of them track you across sites.
| Name | Type | What it stores | Why | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
gluciq-consent |
Local storage | A small record: version, whether analytics is on, and a timestamp | Records your choice and applies it on later visits | Until you clear browser storage |
gluciq-lang |
Local storage | en or de |
Remembers the language you chose and avoids redirecting you to the German site | Until you clear browser storage |
The consent record has the shape { v, analytics, ts }. The analytics value is a true or false flag. The site also reads the older string values granted and denied left by earlier versions of the banner, so an existing choice is not lost.
What is optional: Google Analytics 4
Analytics is the only optional category today.
| Name | Type | What it stores | Why | Lifespan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Cookie | A randomly generated client identifier | Distinguishes one visitor from another | 2 years, Google’s default |
_ga_<container-id> |
Cookie | Session and campaign state for this property | Keeps Analytics state consistent across page views | 2 years, Google’s default |
Google documents the default two-year expiry for its Analytics cookies in its Tag Platform documentation, “Configure and customize cookies”. We have not shortened that default.
Google Analytics 4 loads only after you select “Accept all”, or turn the Analytics switch on and select “Save preferences”. When it loads, these settings apply:
- Google Consent Mode v2 is updated so that
analytics_storageisgranted. ad_storage,ad_user_data, andad_personalizationstaydeniedat all times. We run no advertising.functionality_storageandpersonalization_storagestaydenied.security_storageisgranted, which enables Google’s own fraud and security functions.- IP anonymization is requested for the configured property (
anonymize_ip).
We use the reports to understand which pages help readers. The data is not sold or shared for advertising, and it is not used to build advertising profiles.
What we do not use
We set no advertising cookies or advertising identifiers, and no third-party marketing or cross-site tracking cookies. No social media pixels either. Personal information is not sold.
If we ever add a new optional category, we will not enable it before asking you, and this policy will name it before it ships.
How to change or withdraw your choice
You can change your mind at any time, on any page.
- Scroll to the footer of any page on gluciq.com.
- Select Cookie Settings. This link appears when analytics is configured for the site.
- In the dialog, turn the Analytics switch off, or select Essential only.
- Select Save preferences.
Withdrawal takes effect immediately. Google receives a consent update that sets analytics storage to denied, and the site stops injecting the analytics script on later visits. Cookies that Google Analytics already placed stay in your browser until they expire or you delete them. They are no longer used to measure your visits.
Browser-level controls
Every major browser lets you block and delete cookies and local storage. Private or incognito windows discard them when the window closes. Blocking the strictly necessary items will not stop the site from loading, but the consent banner will reappear on every visit, because the site cannot remember your choice. Your language preference will not persist either.
This site runs no advertising and no cross-site tracking, so a browser signal such as Global Privacy Control has no advertising opt-out to act on. Analytics consent is the control, and it lives in the withdrawal dialog.
How this relates to the app
The GluciQ mobile app is separate from this website.
- The app stores data on your device in a local database, and it has its own Share Anonymous Analytics toggle in Settings, under Privacy & Security. That toggle is on by default and can be switched off.
- The app sends data to our backend only for the product features you use, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Choosing “Essential only” on this website has no effect on the app. Choosing a setting in the app has no effect on this website.
Changes to this policy
We publish this policy under a version number and an update date. If we add a new optional storage category, we will ask for consent before that category is used, and we will state the change here.
