The meal scanner is GlucIQ’s core feature — snap a photo and get instant nutrition estimates.
How It Works
- Image capture: You take a photo of your meal
- AI analysis: The vision model identifies individual food items
- Nutrition estimation: Each item gets carb, protein, and fat estimates
- Confidence scoring: GlucIQ tells you how confident it is in each identification
Confidence Levels
| Level | Meaning |
|---|---|
| High (85%+) | Clear, well-lit, common food items |
| Medium (60–84%) | Partially obscured or mixed dishes |
| Low (<60%) | Unusual items, poor lighting, or heavy sauces |
When confidence is low, GlucIQ highlights which items need manual review.
Supported Food Types
GlucIQ handles a wide range of foods including:
- Home-cooked meals
- Restaurant dishes
- Packaged/branded foods
- Multi-component plates
- Beverages
Editing Estimates
All estimates are editable. GlucIQ never locks you into an AI guess. Tap any food item to:
- Change the identified food
- Adjust the portion size
- Add missing items (sauces, dressings, hidden ingredients)
- Split or merge items
Accuracy
GlucIQ’s meal scanner is designed for practical accuracy, not laboratory precision. Typical accuracy range is within 15–25% of actual values for common meals, which is comparable to trained dietitian visual estimates.
